ARCAS the modular cantilever system for rail and tram installations
Our response to the requirements of the future
Higher transport capacities, shorter frequencies, reliability and cost-effective maintenance: Requirements which also impose increased demands on the current supply and the overhead line. Which is why Kummler + Matter developed the ARCAS (Adaptable Railway CAntilever System). Foremost in priority are system compatibility, an attractive cost/performance ratio, low installation and maintenance costs plus reduced stock-holding.

Modular system for increased flexibility
The ARCAS system is based on tubular sections and just a few standardised connection components. A wide range of tube material and diameters is available for selection:
Tubes are supplied in aluminium, stainless steel, hot-dip galvanised steel or synthetic material.
Typical tube diameters are: (2.5/2), (2/2), (2/2/1.5), also (70/55 mm) or (55/55 mm).
With a few exceptions, the same connection components can be used, regardless of tube material and diameter.
Whether the insulators are porcelain or synthetic, the method of fixing is always the same; hence permitting versatile application.
Thanks to the modularity, the correct solution can be found for all applications.
Whether this is a light-weight contact line for an urban rapid transit system or an installation with larger copper cross sections for heavy direct current operation up to 3 kV or for an alternating current rapid transit system up to 25 kV.
Easy introduction
An important feature of the logical system-conception is compatibility with older versions. In other words; you can exploit all the benefits of ARCAS from the start. Because each
new part can be used without problems, together with parts you still have in stock.
Project planning and installation assistance
Extensive planning assistance is available for engineering and design offices and consultancies for optimal efficiency and cost cutting with project planning and installation.
Efficient assembly
To improve efficiency in assembly, the system comprises just a few push-in or threaded components with unified thread sizes.
